I know you guys are Yanks fans, but...well, I hate the Yankees. Hate might not be a strong enough word actually.
As a long suffering Royals fan, I generally have nothing to root for past Memorial Day. In the early to mid 90s, I started following the Rangers fairly closely. I watched the games nightly. I did the same with Braves games when I was a kid, which accounts for the reason why they are my favorite NL team. So, I can't help but be excited that the Rangers are very close to doing something they've never done. I'd love to see them bring home the ALCS. And then I'd love to see them go kick some NL ass and bring home the World Series. Its been a long time since a World Series game was so close to Oklahoma. You'd have to go all the way back to 1985. KC vs. StL.

I may be going out on a limb here, but is a World Series the real deal if it's not played in New York? I love the Yankees, and rarely even acknowledge the existence of other teams. In my mind, those teams play only as a recruiting cast for the top billed Yankee dynasty. Boston I particularly dislike. My hometown Giants are OK but only because I could watch Willie Mays in his prime play at Candlestick. He would have looked great in Yankee pinstripes. If the Rangers should win out his year, it will probably be another generation before a World Series is held in Dallas... and that's being optimistic!
