| A shorter season is cool with me. While we are tinkering with things, let's make some other changes too.
***The NHL is either planning or already has changed the format for their All-Star game. The elected All-Stars will put all together in a pool (not a real one). They will elect two team captains. The Captains will then draft teams from the pool of players. In baseball, we could skip right passed the election of Captains and just let the All-Star managers pick the squads. So, then it would be possible to see Albert Pujols playing on the same team as Derek Jeter. The interleague matchup has lost its luster anyway.
**During the All-Star game, at the homer run contest, during the first round, the contestants can use aluminum bats.
**There should be a Legacy All-Star game. Mix it up and have some old guys who can still play a bit with some celebs. It could be a short game.
**Enough All-Star changes for now. I hate to say it, but they need to eliminate the Luxury Tax and go to a true salary cap.
**If you are ejected from a ball game, your played for free that night. Your salary for the game goes to a pension fund for retired baseball players who might be struggling.
**Once a game, a siren will sound randomly and the pitcher will be handed an orange ball. If that ball is hit out of the ball park during that at-bat, its worth double the amount of runs. So, a grand-slam on the bonus ball would be worth 8 runs. Ok. I'm just joking on this one. That would horribly stupid.
Let's keep adding to the list. The three of us could replace Selig and run the league. | | | | Posts: 3475 | Location: Paper Football Champion '93, '94, '95 | Registered: September 03, 2007 |

| I don't know why I'm sharing this, but I had to be taken out of a game once because of a bat. I was on deck, and the guy in front of me got a hit. I was watching the play unfold and taking a few last practice swings. I turned to go to the plate and no sooner as I had, I was hit in the NUTS with an aluminum bat flung by the umpire to our dugout. Needless to say, I had never went and purchased a cup to protect myself. The amount of pain....I can not tell you.
So, I got pulled from the game for a pinch hitter and got to ride the bench with a bag of ice from the concession stand. The umpire apologized and admitted it was all his fault. Later in the season, we got the same ump. I'm in the on deck circle and the mother trucker flings the bat my way again. I jumped out of the way and just stood there and stared the m'fer down. The boys in the dugout where giving me a ration of crap, so I finally stepped in.
Same season, I got plunked on the head by a pitch. I didn't care. I was happy to get on base anyway I could. I seriously led the league in HBP. | | | | Posts: 3475 | Location: Paper Football Champion '93, '94, '95 | Registered: September 03, 2007 |
