CW, even if those Marines didn't know that emblem originated with the nazi party, do you think they should be allowed to display it?

They did it back in, what...2010? It's in the past. Move on. Use it to inform the new cannon fodder that the "S's" in the KISS band logo are not acceptable, it's offensive to Jews and some others who fought in WW2, (even though most of the members of KISS are/were Jewish)...and see that it never happens again. Why, do you believe they need to be court marshalled and fined, sent to jail? Booted out onto the street? Have their names and reputations ruined?

And, where did I mention any of that?

Military men and women give up their First Amendment rights when they sign up for the military. While in uniform they are definitely prohibited from doing stuff like flying a Nazi flag. Apparently you didn't know that about military service? PS the same place that sells the Nazi SS flag also sells Celtic crosses. Did you know that already?

And what if they thought they were flying a flag with KISS letters representing them? The rock group "KISS" would be more familiar to their generation than most anything from WW2. Oh well, I'm sure they will be hung out to dry. They will be prime examples of why no young man or woman should sign up for the military from now on.

disco and c-dubya: those are 2 really stupid posts, srsly. The SS flag is not the KISS emblem and military dealing with it is not a witchhunt..

Why not go back and actually read the article before you form your erroneous opinions?

Not, really. As has been disscused, I don't think, we know why these guys displayed this flag. I can tell you this, though, this team may have been all enlisted men and noncoms. But, they had an officer somewhere who commanded them. And, officers are supposed to be reasonably well educated and should have realized this team displaying this flag might be seen as very offensive to many people including many Americans.

......Marine veteran found after 2 days in Oregon snow Associated Press – 3 hrs ago....Email Share0Print......ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) — A former Marine sniper who suffers from panic attacks and fled on foot following a minor traffic accident in Oregon was found after two days in the snow. Jason D. Cooper, 37, of Temecula, Calif., was found Wednesday in a remote wooded area lying on tree branches, trying to keep warm, Oregon State Police said. He was taken to a Roseburg hospital and transferred to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland where nursing supervisor Phyllis Riggs said he's listed in critical condition but stable condition and likely to be upgraded Friday. Cooper had been driving Monday when he was involved in a low-speed rear-end collision on Highway138D, which runs through the Umpqua National Forest. The other driver was surprised to see Cooper, wearing shorts and sandals, run off through the snow into the woods, The Oregonian reported (http://is.gd/JKydqz ) Friday. Police followed tracks through snow 2-feet deep but had to stop at dark. They became more concerned when they discovered he has post-traumatic stress disorder and had run-ins with law enforcement. "I found out that he had panic attacks during stressful situations and sometimes just had to run away," said Sgt. Dave Randall, also an ex-Marine. Randall and Senior Trooper Don Frerichs of the Fish and Wildlife Division returned to the crash scene and followed the tracks for more than five miles on snowmobiles. When they came upon Cooper, obviously suffering from hypothermia, Randall addressed him as Staff Sgt. Cooper and asked him how he was doing. "He asked me how I knew he was a Marine and I said, 'Hey, a Marine always knows a fellow Marine.' After that, we were fast friends." Cooper told the troopers that at one point he removed his sandals because the straps were cutting his feet. He walked several miles through deep, crusty snow in his bare feet until the ice slashed into his skin, so he put the sandals back on. He told them that he was so cold he could not stand up. When Randall asked him if he was scared being out in the woods alone for two days, Cooper replied, "Of what?" After Randall and Frerichs gave Cooper a sandwich and extra clothing, they bundled him onto a snowmobile and took him back to the highway. "The amazing thing is he will not have any long-lasting effects from the hypothermia or frostbite," Randall said. "He's a tough, tough guy, physically and mentally tough. The real deal." ___ Information from: The Oregonian, http://www.oregonlive.com Need to get it wrapped up and get our people out of there.

Hmmmm....Obama stuck with Bush's timeline in Iraq. Not sure about Afghanistan's timeline... and there's still Syria and Iran.

The same bi-partisan mindset that is keeping our southern border a huge joke is also making a lot of war noises concerning Iran. The GOP wunderkind, Santorum, has been making threatening noises since he came on the scene. Maybe he just wants to take them over so he can play with their dead fetuses??? We need to get away from religion controlling politics, from money controlling who gets in and the TWO PARTY SYSTEM. They're giving us a load of dukey and calling it progress.
